As part of the General Plan update, the City Council directed the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) to explore updating the City’s Mission Statement to align with the current values of Lafayette community members. The GPAC formed a subcommittee to solicit community input on the key components to incorporate into the City’s Mission Statement. The subcommittee developed a survey to gather feedback on the key values and attributes that should be incorporated into vision and mission statements for Lafayette. The first survey was open for three and a half months and was advertised through mailings to all households in Lafayette, banners in the City’s downtown, emails to a stakeholder list of over 700 individuals and organizations, and promoted through the City’s social media channels.

In total, 688 people took the time to share their thoughts and priorities, which informed the draft vision and mission statements presented below. You still have the opportunity to add your voice and help shape the future by taking a few minutes to answer some questions about the drafts.

GPAC members will use your feedback to further craft mission and vision statements that will guide Lafayette’s future.
