“It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette” Holiday Celebration is designed as a time to share holiday cheer as we celebrate this wonderful community we live in. Typically held on the first Sunday in December in Lafayette’s Plaza Park, this free, fun, family-friendly celebration includes Santa sightings, free train rides on the Lafayette Express, official holiday tree lighting ceremony, one-of-a-kind photo ops, live musical entertainment, kid’s crafts, holiday treats and more!

The “It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette” event is presented by the Lafayette Chamber, and sponsored by Branagh Development and the Dana Green Team who together along with the City of Lafayette are also hosting the environmentally-friendly downtown Lafayette twinkle lights for the 2022 Holiday Season.

Santa arrives at Lafayette Plaza Park at approximately 5pm. He will parade along Golden Gate Way from the Lafayette Library to Lafayette Plaza Park. Photo ops with Santa are free, but you will need a Santa Visit ticket. Santa will be on his way to the northpole promptly at 6:30pm. Pickup your Santa Visit ticket near the west side of Plaza Park near the Wheel Well trailer. Tickets will also be dispersed for free rides on the Lafayette Express Train.

Mrs. Claus will be greeting guests at the Lafayette Express Train Station near The Lafayette Park Theater on Golden Gate Way.

Our MC, Dennis Markam, Town Hall Theatre, will introduce our holiday performances by Lafayette Nursery School, Stanley Middle School Chorus, Acalanes Choir, New You Dance Center, Performing Academy, and Myeve Capozzi Vocal Training.

Entertainment Schedule
4:30pm: Lafayette Nursery School
4:40pm: Stanley Middle School Chorus
5:00pm: Santa arrives via Golden Gate Way to Plaza Way
5:15pm: New You Dance Center
5:30pm: Performing Academy
6:00pm: Tree Lighting & Acalanes High School Chorus
6:10pm: Myeve Capozzi Vocal Training Studio

The 3rd graders from Lafayette School District elementary schools and St. Perpetua School will have their artwork on display at the event. Community Foundation of Lafayette and the Lafayette Library and Learning Center will have kid's activities.

The Rotary Club of Lamorinda Sunrise will be providing FREE hot chocolate! Thanks in advance to their helpers, AAUW-OML Ambassadors for STEM. The Park Theater Trust will be serving free popcorn from their lobby. Food for purchase includes Elf Treats from Lola’s Sweet Treats, and dinner from Halal Bites of Chicago. The Chamber will be hosting two bars stocked with local drinks thanks to Hollie’s Homegrown, Headlands Brewing Company, Canyon Club Brewery, and Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling/Joe Dougherty. Hollie’s Homegrown will also be offering free cider for kids!
