Thank you Lafayette!
Your donations to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano totaled 2000lbs! This is enough to supply over well over 1500 meals to our community! Thank you to the businesses that collected and promoted and to you, our community, who donated! #BeKind21
This September It’s “BeKind 21” in the City of Lafayette
The City of Lafayette has proclaimed the days of September 1 to September 21, 2020, as “BeKind 21” in the City of Lafayette. #BeKind21 is the brainchild of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and we invite everyone to participate in the challenge by being kind to their neighbors, friends, family members, fellow residents, themselves, and their community.
Even if we’re physically apart, we’re still connected in kindness. You can kick off the school year by taking @btwfoundation’s #BeKind21 pledge to build a habit of kindness by doing something kind for yourself and others every day for 21 days this September. You can be kind to and thank workers who are sacrificing their safety for our communities. And, did you know being kind includes taking care of your own mental wellness?
The Lafayette Chamber along with the City of Lafayette, Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation and Lafayette Social Magazine have put together a calendar of kindness for our community! Many thanks to Teresa Gerringer for coordinating!
Over the next three weeks we will be promoting kindness thanks to the @bornthiswayfoundation #BeKind21 initiative and the City of Lafayette’s proclamation. Read the City of Lafayette’s BeKind21 2020 Proclamation and pledge to build a habit of kindness through #BeKind21 at www.bornthisway.foundation/bekind21.
Food collection bins for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano will be available throughout Lafayette through September 20. (Learn more below.)

#BeKind21 Food Drive
Wednesday, September 9 – Monday, September 20, 2020
Pledge To #Bekind21 – make kindness a habit https://bornthisway.foundation/
The City of Lafayette, Lafayette Chamber, Lafayette School District, and Lafayette Social are partnering with Born This Way Foundation for the third year to practice 21 days of being KIND to each other. In addition to our 21 examples of sharing kindness we built a community exercise to collect food for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
Born This Way looks forward toward a future that supports the wellness of young people through an evidence-based approach that is fiercely kind, compassionate, accepting, and inclusive. Together we celebrate the individuality of those we serve and we revere the bravery it takes to reach out and start the conversation. Together, we’re building a community that provides approachable resources, fosters genuine connection, and drives action.
The Food Drive will begin on Wednesday, September 9 and end on September 21. With the support of your friends and family, the money you raise will provide food to the 1 in 9 local residents that turn to the Food Bank for help.
