DEI – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

DEIB Community Conversation

The Lafayette Chamber believes that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are critical to the success and well-being of our staff, our members, and our community.

The Lafayette Chamber will be a leader in reaching this by:

  • Setting an example of respect and tolerance in everything we do
  • Educating our members so they may improve their own diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Engaging underrepresented businesses to become members
  • Encouraging diverse leadership within our board, staff, and membership

UCnet, Managing Implicit Bias Series

The UC Managing Implicit Bias Series is a six-course online training series designed to increase awareness of implicit bias and reduce its impact at the University. The series reinforces the UC diversity, equity, and inclusion values that enable the University to attract and retain a top talent workforce, and it further supports the UC commitment to developing effective leaders and managers of people.

CircleUp Education

Our Mission is to cultivate happy, thriving, and stress-free cities, organizations, and schools by developing a less oppressed, racist, and divided world for future generations we will never know through custom training, consulting, coaching, and tools that are intentionally designed to interrupt implicit bias, restore community wellbeing, resolve conflict and misunderstandings, and inspire deeper connection and inclusion.

Fogbreak Education for Justice

Fogbreak seeks to transform our culture through collaborations and experiential education about fairness, equity and inclusion.

Courageous Conversation

We believe that courageous conversations about race have the power to change things in the world that prevent governments, organizations and people from achieving their best outcomes. In the nearly 30 years we have been around, the world has made a lot of progress when it comes to achieving racial equality. But it’s not a linear process. It’s two steps forward, one step back. We resist the change because it’s uncomfortable—ultimately, leaving us all stuck. Our services are designed to help you get unstuck and begin the right conversations to realize change in your organization, community or city.

Unisys, Securing Your Tomorrow

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) has become a crucial, transformational element in the workplace as well as within our society. Many employers, like Unisys, are embracing DEI and have made changes to their recruiting and hiring processes.

DEI ensures these processes are looking at a diverse set of candidates for job opportunities from within and outside of the company to establish a diverse, inclusive workplace with equal opportunity, and a diverse leadership team, where associates feel like they belong.

You want your workforce to have a strong sense of belonging that will positively impact their happiness and engagement which in turn increases their productivity and the likelihood to stay longer with the organization.

Kantola Harassment and Diversity Training

To meet the moment, Kantola has developed an all-new interactive Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion course, in partnership with Littler. The course combines real scenarios, in-person interviews, discussion and exploration questions, exercises and instruction for an engaging and illuminating learner experience.

SHRM, Together Forward

In 2020, SHRM launched Together Forward @Work to initiate open dialogue about racial inequity in the workplace. Now we’re taking the next step by providing tangible tools to construct equitable hiring practices and empathetic cultures—which is fundamental to the development of truly inclusive workplaces. Which is exactly what we need. Now more than ever.

“We are very impressed with your Chamber. We have been members of other Chambers over the years and it’s been nothing like the experiences we’re having right out of the gate with your organization. Thank you for your great communication, follow up, and professionalism.”
– Peter Dewey, Bayview Painting

“I couldn’t have asked for a better resource than the Chamber, as I was establishing my medical practice in Lafayette. AJ, Holly, and Sara were so responsive to my questions and gave me many ideas on networking in the community. They host several events that foster community building. I honestly cannot imagine a more robust, active, and friendly chamber as this. I’m a member for life!”
– Cheruba Prabakar, Lamorinda Gynecology & Surgery

“WE LOVE THE CHAMBER! Batch and Brine has been a member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for almost six years. We value and appreciate the incredible amount of work this organization produces for our community through many events and support for each business. The networking and education of information that’s spilled out weekly for the business community is impressive. They are a helping hand in so many ways for our business community and beyond. We couldn’t be part of this community without being part of the chamber. Lafayette Chamber is one of the best organizations we’ve worked with, so don’t think twice about it, join the Chamber!” – Rolla Ghaben, Batch & Brine

“The Chamber was instrumental in helping us open 14 years ago. The staff went out of their way to help us make connections and ensure we were successful. We would not be where we are today without the Chamber!”
– John & Colleen McCormick, Lamorinda Music
