Supervisor Candace Andersen’s July 1 Weekly Update (constantcontact.com)

All fireworks are illegal in Contra Costa County, except professional public displays put on by cities or other jurisdictions.

Earlier this month, the Board of Supervisors voted on an updated fireworks ordinance strengthening regulations on the possession, manufacture, sale, use, and discharge of fireworks.

The ordinance covers both “dangerous” fireworks and those labeled “safe and sane.”

Violating the ordinance may result in a fine of $100 for a first offense, $200 for a second violation within one year, and a fine of $500 for each additional violation of the ordinance within one year.
